Correspondence Course Lesson 10:
The Family Name of the Creator

The book of Jacob 2:10 states, “For whoever shall keep all the Torah, even though he fail in but one statute, he has become guilty as to all of it.” I don’t believe any true covenant, baptized member of the body of Messiah would purposely want to break any of the 10 commandments, but yet many are doing just that today.
Exo 20:7 You shall not take the name of YAHWEH your Elohim in vain; for YAHWEH will not leave unpunished the one who takes His name in vain.
The third commandment tells us “You shall not take the name of YAHWEH your Elohim in vain.” In vain means to change, falsify or to make common.
Yet almost 7,000 times in the English translations from the original Hebrew Texts, the translators take out the Sacred name of our Creator, YAHWEH, and replace it with either the word “God” or “Lord”. God and Lord are titles, not personal names, and if you go back to the origin of these words they also are very suspect. Yahweh is omnipotent and everlasting, and all merciful, but again these are titles, but are not His personal name.
Taking out the personal name of Yahweh, or in Hebrew, it is the letters, Yod, Hey, Wav, Hey, almost 7,000 times and replacing it with a generic title of lord or god, is definitely breaking the third commandment. It is changing the name of the Creator, it is falsifying His true name to another false one, and it is making it common, by making it a common everyday title, instead of a personal name. I am a man, but there are many men, but when my personal name of Don Esposito is used, then it is separated, from not just speaking of any man, but a specific one.
In This lesson, we are going to prove the importance of the family name of the Creator, and how that name in scripture is to be set apart, above every other name in the universe.
Does the Heavenly Father tell us in scripture what His personal name is?
Exo 3:15 And Elohim said to Moses again, You shall say this to the sons of Israel, YAHWEH, the Elohe of your fathers, the Elohe of Abraham, the Elohe of Isaac, and the Elohe of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is how I should be remembered from generation to generation.
Does He also say that this is HIS NAME FOREVER? Same verse
COMMENT: Clearly, from the scriptures, Yahweh, is the name that the Creator called Himself for all generations; it most interesting that every human is so prideful to his own personal name. If your name is Bill, and someone kept calling you Joe, it would be quite offensive. It would even be more than offensive, but hurtful, if someone that you know very well, such as your Pastor of 10 years, suddenly forgot your name. In Hebrew every name has meaning. Elijah means, Yahweh is my El, Daniel means Elohim is my Judge, and so on. There is not a name in Hebrew that does not have a meaning, and yet we are to think that somehow the Creator of the universe, the name above all names, doesn’t have a name and doesn’t care what we call Him.
Yahweh is the family name of the Creator, and just as when a wife takes the family name of her husband when they join in covenant relationship through their marriage vows, so do believers take on this family name by being baptized in His name when they are immersed in the family name of Yahweh.
Eph 3:14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Master Yahshua Messiah,
Eph 3:15 of whom every family in Heaven and on earth is named,
How then did the name of Yahweh get changed? Remember before 1500 there were no printing presses, so bibles were only kept in synagogues and churches, but after the invention of the printing press, bibles could be printed for the use of the average person.
One of the first bibles to be printed was the King James bible around 1592, which actually kept the shortened form of Yahweh or Yah, but due to anti-Semitic pogroms against the Jewish people, anything that even remotely looked Jewish, was replaced with something else, and men decided to take out of the bible the name above all names, the very name of the Creator of the universe, YAHWEH, and replace it with titles, such as lord and god.
Are we to follow the traditions of men or the Word of Yahweh?
Mark 7:6 And answering, He said to them, Well did Isaiah prophesy concerning you, hypocrites; as it has been written: “This people honors Me with the lips, but their heart is far away from Me;
Mark 7:7 and in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.”
Mark 7:8 For forsaking the commandment of YAHWEH, you hold the tradition of men: washing of utensils and cups, and many other such like things you do.
Mark 7:9 And He said to them, Well do you to set aside the commandment of YAHWEH so that you may establish your own tradition?
COMMENT: The bible was originally written in Hebrew, as where English is a modern language, only several hundred years old, and is based from other languages, such as Germanic, and Latin etc. It was merely because of tradition that the name of Yahweh was taken out of scripture almost 7,000 times and replaced with generic titles, breaking the third commandment. It should also be noted that the men who translated these bibles, also had an anti-Torah bias, and were Sunday keepers, as well as keeping many other pagan traditions.
What does scripture say about following leaders who do not keep the Torah?
Isa 8:20 To the Torah and to the Testimony! If they do not speak according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them!
We may not realize it, but when we use an incorrect translation of the Holy Scriptures, with the Creators name changed, and read it incorrectly, then we are breaking the third commandment, even if we are doing it inadvertently. We are also adding words to the scriptures, and changing them, as the titles of lord and god are not in the original manuscripts, but are added by the translators.
What does scripture say will be the punishment of those that add or take away from the Word of Yahweh?
Deut 4:2 You shall not add to the Word which I command you, nor take from it, to keep the commandments of YAHWEH your Elohim which I command you.
Rev 22:19 And if anyone takes away from the Words of the Book of this prophecy, YAHWEH will take away his part from the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and of the things having been written in this Book.
COMMENT: Once again we can clearly see the severity of changing any word in Scripture, never mind the most important name in the universe, the name of the Creator, Yahweh. Anyone changing the Scriptures will actually be blotted out of the Book of Life, and this is exactly what the men who translated the Bible have done.
Personal names are transliterated, not translated. The word water in English is translated aqua in Italian. There is no connection whatsoever to these two words; they are totally different in two different languages. But personal names, such as George Bush, are not translated, but transliterated, into any given language. This means that the name stays the same; it may just be phonetically pronounced a little different, in each language. Listen to a broadcast in Spanish and you will hear all Spanish words, and then a name such as George Bush. So, names stay the same no matter what language they are in.
So, since names are not translated but transliterated, can the word “God” be a transliteration of the name Yahweh, when they have no phonetic connection whatsoever?
Exo 3:13 And Moses said to ‘God’, behold, I shall come to the sons of Israel and say to them, the ‘God’ of your fathers has sent me to you; and they will say to me, what is His name? What shall I say to them?”
COMMENT: Clearly, ‘God’ or more correctly rendered Elohim in the Hebrew, was a generic title and was not His name, because they asked, “which God?”; going back to the Israelites and telling them that ‘God’ appeared to him, would have brought the question, “which God? Clearly ‘God’ is not the personal name of the Creator. ‘God’ can mean any God. Allah is god to the Muslims, Vishnu is god to the Hindus, and the Hebrew word Elohim, which is being translated in most bibles as ‘god’, is a generic title for deity, as where Yahweh is a personal name.
What next did the Heavenly Father tell Moses to tell the Israelites that His name was?
Exo 3:15 And Elohim said to Moses again, You shall say this to the sons of Israel, YAHWEH, the Elohe of your fathers, the Elohe of Abraham, the Elohe of Isaac, and the Elohe of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is how I should be remembered from generation to generation.
COMMENT: In the original Hebrew text the name that our Heavenly Father told Moses would be His name forever was Yahweh. Our Heavenly Father has many titles. He is all powerful and omnipotent, He is also all merciful, but these are titles and attributes, but are not His personal name. When someone says that Yahweh is called by many names in Scripture that is just not true. He has many titles and attributes, but only ONE PERSONAL NAME!
If you do a word study on the name of Yahweh in the Hebrew scriptures you will find that only the name Yahweh is the personal family name of our Heavenly Father and is used almost 7,000 times in the Old Testament alone, by far almost 70 percent of every reference made to our Creator is with His personal family name, Yahweh. The next most used name is Elohim, which again, is not a personal name, but a title, and the rest of the names used, El Shadai (Almighty El), Adonai, Healer, Deliverer, etc., which are fine attributes of our Father, but are also titles, and not personal names. They are only used a handful of times except for Adonai, (title for exulted one) which is used about 408 times, compared to our Father being called Yahweh 7,000 times.
There is another very important point about the name “god” that also must be brought up. As already stated, the original language of the Bible was Hebrew. In Hebrew the generic word for deity is El or Eli and in the plural form, Elohim. The name “god” in Hebrew is only in one scripture, when Yahweh is rebuking the Israelites, for worshiping the false Babylonian deity. The personal name of the Babylonian deity is “god” or phonetically pronounced gawd.
Isa 65:11 But you are those who forsake YAHWEH, who forget My holy mountain; who array a table for gawd (the Babylonian Deity), and who fill mixed wine for Meni (deity of fate).
In your English bible it may have the word troop, but look in a concordance and it is the word 1408, gawd. It is also most interesting to note, that to a world that has been blinded to the true personal family name of our Heavenly Father ‘Yahweh: that the name of “Satan“ is not lost or contested in any language, but is very clearly pronounced in his world, and since names are transliterated, isn’t it very suspect, that the personal name of the Babylonian deity “god or gawd”, has been used in English for the generic title to replace the personal name of Yahweh. As a matter of fact, every Hebrew name in scripture are transliterated, except the names of Yahweh and Yahshua. The name Moshe is transliterated as Moses, the name Daveed as David. Every single name in
scripture is properly transliterated into English except the most important names of Yahweh and Yahshua.
What does scripture say about calling on the personal name of other deities, except the name of Yahweh only?
Exo 22:20 One sacrificing to a god shall be destroyed, unless it is only to YAHWEH.
Exo 23:13 And be watchful in all that I have said to you. And you shall not call upon another Elohim by name; it shall not be heard from your mouth.
COMMENT: This scripture in the Hebrew does not mean not to read the name of a false deity when you are reading scripture, but actually means not praying to, or making a vow by the name of a pagan deity. According to Scripture, when we pray, we are only to pray to the name of Yahweh, the Father in Heaven. Since the name “god” is actually the personal name of the Babylonian deity, it would clearly be against scripture to pray to this name, instead of the name of the Creator Yahweh.
I know this may sound offensive to someone hearing about the Creator Yahweh’s name for the first time, but honestly think to yourself, if someone who was a Moslem, came to faith in Yahshua, and started attending your service, would you allow him to pray in the name of Allah? How about if a Hindu came to faith and started attending with your congregation, would they allow him to pray to Vishnu?
Then why would we allow someone to pray to “god” knowing with absolute certainty that this is NOT the name of the Creator, but is the personal name of a Babylonian deity? The only answer is tradition. People accept the practice of calling on the personal name of a Babylonian deity due to doing this for such a long time, by tradition, just like they do by worshipping on Sunday, or keeping other pagan holidays, such as Christmas.
Is Yahweh a jealous Elohim?
Exo 20:5 you shall not bow to them, and you shall not serve them; for I am YAHWEH your Elohim, a jealous El, visiting the iniquity of fathers on sons, on the third and on the fourth generation, to those that hate Me;
Is He even jealous for His name?
Eze 39:25 So Adonai, YAHWEH says this: Now I will return the captivity of Jacob and will have mercy on all the house of Israel. And I will be jealous for My holy name.
COMMENT: Yahweh is not jealous for reasons of pride as humans would be. He is jealous because He is the very Creator of everything, and it will actually hurt human beings to believe in false deities that cannot serve them, and will only lead them into error and sin. By giving homage to the name of Yahweh, the Creator, He will be able to bless His people, because they are worshipping the true Creator of the universe in spirit and in truth.
Are you starting to see the picture? Clearly from Scripture the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob tells us His personal name is Yahweh, and also clearly from Scripture, He says He is a jealous Elohim, and will not give His glory to the names of pagan deities. With that being the fact, are we giving homage to Yahweh when we pray to god or gawd the name of a pagan Babylonian deity?
Isa 42:8 I am YAHWEH; that is My name; and I will not give My glory to another, nor My praise to engraved images.
Every false religion the world has ever known has had a personal name to their false deity. Did you ever wonder why Christianity is the only religion that does not have a personal name for their deity? The name God, as we have already proven in the English language, is not a personal name but a title, although it was the personal name of the ancient Babylonian deity.
Acts 17:23 For as I was rambling about and looking up at the objects of your worship, I also found an altar on which had been written, TO THE HIDDEN ELOHIM. Not knowing, then, whom you worship, I make Him known to you.
COMMENT: The Greeks had so many different false gods, that they even had an inscription to the unknown Elohim. Paul used this as an avenue to reveal Yahweh, the only true Elohim of the entire universe to these people.
Notice he didn’t do this through condemnation, but merely by revealing the only one true deity that they had left out. The Heavenly Father is most merciful, and even though we did not know His personal name before, in His mercy and also looking on the intent of our heart, He may still have answered our prayers, or even healed us of a certain sickness, because even though we did not know His personal name, we still knew Him, from His word. But now that we know His true name Yahweh, our Heavenly Father would expect that we would not continue to call Him by false names any longer.
Acts 17:30 Truly, then, Elohim overlooking the times of this ignorance, but now strictly commands all men everywhere to repent
WE are in the time of the restoration of all things, and that is why as Yahweh is opening up our minds to His glorious truth and name, we must cherish this as it enhances our relationship with Him. What are some of the other things that Scripture tells us to do, that we must know the name of the Creator to accomplish?
Psa 34:1 I will bless YAHWEH at all times; His praise shall always be in my mouth.
Psa 34:2 My soul shall make its boast in Yahweh; the humble shall hear and be glad.
Psa 34:3 O magnify YAHWEH with me; and let us exalt His name together.
2nd Sam 22:47 YAHWEH lives! And blessed be my Rock, and is exalted the Elohim of the Rock of my Y’shua*.
2nd Sam 22:48 The Elohim who gives vengeance for me, and brings down peoples under me,
2nd Sam 22:49 and brings me forth from my enemies; yea, You raise me up above those rising up against me; You deliver me from the men of violence.
2nd Sam 22:50 On account of this I will confess You, YAHWEH, among nations; and I will sing praise to Your name.
COMMENT: Scripture many times actually commands us to praise the name of Yahweh, and to also bless the name of Yahweh, and to even sing to the name of Yahweh. It is only proper to give praise and bless the name of the only true deity in the universe, Yahweh, and not to bless and praise the names of false gods.
Is Scripture very specific about us worshipping the specific name of Yahweh? Are we also to pray specifically to the name of Yahweh?
Psa 99:2 YAHWEH is great in Zion; and He is high above all the peoples.
Psa 99:3 They shall thank Your great and fearful name; it is holy.
Psa 99:4 The king’s strength also loves judgment; You establish uprightness; You worked judgment and righteousness in Jacob.
Psa 99:5 Exalt YAHWEH our Elohim and worship at His footstool; He is holy.
Psa 99:6 Moses and Aaron were among His priests, and Samuel was among those who called on His name; they called to YAHWEH, and He answered them.
Psa 99:7 He spoke to them in the cloudy pillar; they kept His testimonies and the Law that He gave to them.
Psa 99:8 You answered them, O YAHWEH our Elohim; to them You were an El who forgives them, but taking vengeance on their works.
Psa 99:9 Exalt YAHWEH our Elohim and worship at His holy hill; for YAHWEH our Elohim is holy.
Psa 105:1 O give thanks to YAHWEH; call on His name; make His deeds known among the peoples.
Psa 105:2 Sing to Him; sing praises to Him; tell of all His wonders.
Psa 105:3 Glory in His holy name; let the heart of those who seek Yahweh rejoice.
Psa 105:4 Seek YAHWEH and His strength; seek His face without ceasing.
Psa 105:5 Remember His wonders that He has done, His miracles, and the judgments of His mouth,
Psa 105:6 O seed of His servant Abraham; O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.
Psa 105:7 He is YAHWEH our Elohim; His judgments are in all the earth;
COMMENT: These are but a few of the hundreds of scriptures that specifically tell us to pray to, exult, sing to, lift up, and give honor to the personal name of our Creator Yahweh.
Did Yahshua our Savior think the personal name of Yahweh was important? Did He command His followers to give reverence to Yahweh’s name in prayer?
Luk 11:1 And it happened as He was praying in a certain place, when He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, Master teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
Luk 11:2a And He said to them: When you pray, say, Our Father who is in Heaven, hallowed be
Your name,……
COMMENT: It is very interesting that the very first thing that our Savior Yahshua told us about praying is to hallow or give reverence to the Father’s name, Yahweh. Are we really giving homage to the name Yahweh when we replace it with either pagan names or generic titles?
1st Chron 16:7 Then on that day David first gave by the hand of Asaph and his brothers to give thanks to YAHWEH.
1st Chron 16:8 O give thanks to YAHWEH; call on His name; make known His deeds among the peoples.
1st Chron 16:9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; tell of all His marvelous works.
1st Chron 16:10 Glory in His holy name; let the heart of those seeking YAHWEH rejoice.
1st Chron 16:11 Seek YAHWEH and His strength, seek His face continually.
1st Chron 16:14 He is YAHWEH our Elohim, His judgments are in all the earth.
1st Chron 16:23 Sing to YAHWEH, all the earth, proclaim the news from day to day of His salvation (Y’shua*).
1st Chron 16:24 Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all the peoples.
1st Chron 16:25 For great is YAHWEH, and greatly to be praised; and He is to be feared above all the Elohim.
1st Chron 16:26 All the gods of the peoples are worthless; yea, YAHWEH has made the heavens.
1st Chron 16:27 Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and joy are in His place.
1st Chron 16:28 Give to YAHWEH, O families of the people, give to YAHWEH glory and strength.
1st Chron 16:29 Give to YAHWEH the glory of His name; bring an offering and come before Him; worship YAHWEH in the adornment of holiness.
COMMENT: David, the greatest earthly King that Israel ever had, and the one who will rule with Yahshua in His Kingdom, certainly knew the name of Yahweh, the Creator and gave glory and reverence to Yahweh’s sacred name. And from the above scriptures we can also see that Moses and Samuel and the prophets also called on and worshipped the name of Yahweh.
Is Yahshua’s congregation supposed to be named after Yahweh the Father?
Eph 3:14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Master Yahshua Messiah,
Eph 3:15 of whom every family in Heaven and on earth is named
John 17:6 I revealed Your name to the men whom You gave to Me out of the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me; and they have kept Your Word.
John 17:11 And no longer am I in the world, yet these are in the world; and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, those whom You gave to Me, that they may be echad (united) as We are echad (united).
John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name; I guarded those whom You gave to Me, and not one of them was lost, except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
COMMENT: The name of Yahweh’s congregation has always been “Congregation of Yahweh” according to Scripture. The Son came in the name of His Father and He left the congregation in respect to Yahweh, named after Him. Did the apostle Paul recognize that the name of Yahshua’s assembly was Congregation of Yahweh?
1st Cor 1:2 to the Congregation of YAHWEH, which is in Corinth, those having been sanctified in Messiah Yahshua, called out saints
Acts 20:28 Then take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit placed you as overseers, to shepherd the Congregation of YAHWEH which He purchased through His own blood.
1st Tim 3:5 But if anyone does not know how to rule his own house, how will he care for a Congregation of YAHWEH?
1st Cor 11:16 But if anyone thinks to be contentious, we do not have such a custom, nor the do the Congregations of YAHWEH.
All together there are 12 references calling the New Testament Congregation “The Congregation of YAHWEH”. This is clearly the name that was used by the early believers, according to the commandment by Yahshua, from Scripture, to keep the congregation in the name of the Father. And even in the Tanach, the congregation is called the Congregation of Yahweh.
Mic 2:5 So there shall not be for you one casting a line by lot in the congregation of YAHWEH.
COMMENT: The oracles of Yahweh (His Word) were given to the Jews to preserve the Torah for the New Testament Congregation. Due to the reverence that Judaism placed on the name of Yahweh, they actually stopped pronouncing the sacred name, and in doing so actually did away with the name of Yahweh instead of preserving it.
This actually turned out to be a blessing for secular mankind that blasphemes the incorrect name of “god” daily. According to the third commandment “He will not be held guiltless who blasphemes the name of Yahweh”. Again in the original Hebrew, the sin is blaspheming the name of our Creator “Yahweh”, not blaspheming an added name or title that someone added in later.
Has our Heavenly Father actually blessed people who are non-believers by keeping His name hidden from them so they could not blaspheme it?
Rom 11:32 For Elohim has shut up all into disobedience, that he may show mercy to all.
COMMENT: Our Heavenly Father Yahweh is so merciful that He has kept the vast majority of the world hidden from His true name, in order to protect them from inadvertently cursing or blaspheming His sacred name and therefore bringing curses on themselves and their families. This is truly an act of mercy on His part, but it is also a great blessing to His called out Chosen covenant people that He has revealed His blessed name to them in these end times.
Did you know that there is only one word in all the world that is universal and the same in any language? At first thought, one might think it is a simple word like “yes” or “no”, but it is not. The only universal word in all the world is Halleluyah! Which simply means PRAISE YAH !
Yahweh is the great Creator of the universe. Anything that has life was created by Him. As a matter of fact, the Hebrew word for create, which is “Barah” can only be used for Yahweh in Hebrew, because only He is the great Creator of the universe. Since everything that is created whether it be the trees, or the animals, or even the people on this planet, everything and everyone has been created by Yahweh, we are all part of His creation and therefore everything that has breathe should praise the great name of our Creator that made us and gave us life.
Was Yahweh alone when He created mankind and the universe?
Gen 1:26 And Elohim said, let Us make mankind in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the creepers creeping on the earth.
Gen 1:27 And Elohim created the man in His own image; in the image of Elohim He created him. He created them male and female.
Very clearly Yahweh was not alone when He created mankind in His image. Some had tried to say that Yahweh was referring to angels in this verse, but mankind was made in the image and likeness of Yahweh, our Heavenly Father, not in the image of angels, who are administering spirits to serve Yahweh’s creation.
Heb 1:13 But to which of the Cherubs did He ever say, “Sit at My right hand until I place Your enemies as a footstool under Your feet?”
Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits for service, being sent out because of the ones being about to inherit salvation?
If it were not angels that created mankind with Yahweh, then who was with Yahweh as co- Creator of the world?
Pro 30:4 Who has gone up to Heaven, and come down? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in His garments? Who has made all the ends of the
earth to rise? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name? Surely you know.
COMMENT: This scripture is very telling, as not only does it raise the question of the name of the one who created the universe with the wind and the sky, and the waters, but it also tells us that the one who was with Him at creation was HIS SON!
Heb 1:4 and He is altogether superior to the cherubs, just as the name He has inherited is a more excellent name than theirs.
Heb 1:5 For to which of the cherubs did He ever say, “You are My Son; today I have begotten You?” And again, “I will be a Father to Him, and He shall be a Son to Me.”
Are there other scriptures in the Tanach showing that Yahweh had a Son?
Psa 2:2 The kings of the earth have placed themselves; yea, the rulers have plotted together against YAHWEH and His Messiah, saying,
Psa 2:6 Yea, I have set My king on My holy mount on Zion.
Psa 2:7 I will declare concerning the statute of YAHWEH: He said to Me, You are My Son. Today I have begotten You.
Psa 2:8 Ask of Me, and I will give the nations as Your inheritance; and as Your possession the ends of the earth.
Isa 48:16 Come near to Me; hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning. From its existence, I was there; and now Adonai YAHWEH, and His Spirit, has sent Me. (Messiah speaking)
COMMENT: These scriptures are clearly messianic and show that the Messiah of Israel is also the Son of Yahweh, and co-Creator of the universe with Him. Actually, Yahweh is a family name of the Father and Son and both of them have the name Yahweh. If you look in the original Hebrew you will find about 48 references that refer to the Father as Yah Yahweh, and you will find multiple references referring to the Son as Yahshua Yahweh. Yahweh is the family name of the Creators.
Act 2:36 Then assuredly, let all the house of Israel acknowledge that YAHWEH made known this same Yahshua whom you crucified, He is both YAHWEH and Messiah.
Act 2:37 And hearing, they were touched in the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men, our brothers, What shall we do?
COMMENT: Yahshua is currently, the ONLY begotten, born again, resurrected, glorified Spirit being in the family of Yahweh today. That is why when we are baptized, we are baptized into His covenant with Yahweh the Father, and into His family name of Yahshua Yahweh.
Gen 19:24 And YAHWEH (Yahshua YAHWEH on earth) rained fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah, from YAHWEH out of the heavens.
When we look at such references as the one above, it is clear that there are two Yahweh’s, and Yahweh is a family name. There is Yahweh the Father in Heaven and the second Yahweh was the one who appeared to Abraham in Genesis chapter 18, and was the one who rained the fire and brimstone from His Father Yahweh who was in Heaven. (For a full Bible study on “The family of Yahweh”, you can download lesson three from our Correspondence course at www.coyhwh.com).
Does the Bible give the name of the Son of Yahweh in the New Testament?
Mat 1:20 And as he was thinking about these things, behold, a Cherub of YAHWEH was seen by him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mariam as your wife. For that in her is generated by the Holy Spirit.
Mat 1:21 And she will bear a son, and you shall call His name Yahshua, for He shall save His people from their sins.
COMMENT: The Greek name Jesus has no etymology or meaning to it. It is a Greek hybrid name that has no original meaning to it; whereas the name Yahshua, (which in the original Hebrew means Yahweh’s salvation) tells exactly the job that the Messiah of Israel will do. He will save His people from their sins, or He will be the salvation of Israel.
Israelites were functional people. The name of the Creator when first asked by Moses was revealed as, ”I am that I am”, or better rendered in the original Hebrew, “I exist“. When Yahweh was asked His name, He told not only His name Yahweh, but what He does, “He exists“.
Today in the west, we do not think functionally like ancient Israelites, but with more of a Greek mind set. The Greek mind thinks more of what something is instead of what something does.
Think functionally for a moment; if you lived in the first century A.D and you saw the Messiah of Israel in Galilee, do you suppose He would have a Greek name or a Hebrew one? Of course He would have a Hebrew one. The Messiah of Israel was named Yahshua (Yahweh’s salvation) not Jesus, which has no etymology. Originally, the New Testament was written in Aramaic, a dialect of Hebrew and was later translated into Greek. It was then that the Savior’s name was changed from its original name of Yahshua to the Greek hybrid of “Jesus”.
Are there any scriptures that show that the name of the Savior would have to have the name of Yahweh the Father in His name?
Exo 23:20 Behold, I am about to send a messenger before you, to guard you in the way, and to bring you to the place which I have prepared.
Exo 23:21 Be on guard before Him, and listen to His voice. Do not be rebellious against Him, for He will not forgive your transgressions; for My name is in Him.
COMMENT: The name “Jesus” at best, is a poor transliteration of Yahshua and at worst is transliterated from an ancient Greek god of healing, called IE – Zeus. In Greek there is no letter J and the J has a “ie” sound. Most scholars believe that the hybrid name “Jesus” is the transliteration of the Greek name “Iesous”, which is the transliteration of the original Hebrew “Yahshua”.
The question one must ask is “If the Savior of Israel was a Jew from the tribe of David, then why would we transliterate His name into Greek before transliterating it into English”? It not only makes no logical sense to do this, but it also breaks every rule of grammar.
Let’s for a moment take the argument of some that the name “Iesous” is a proper transliteration of the name Yahshua. There is no grammatical rule in any language to transliterate a name into one language before transliterating the name into your language. NONE! So why would anyone do this. Why would someone transliterate the name Yahshua into Greek, and then English? If we are going to use the English transliteration of Yahshua, then it would be Joshua in English. Joshua and Yahshua phonetically sound very similar. To prove this point, look at the following scripture.
Heb 4:8 For if Joshua the son of Nun had given them rest, then He would not have afterwards spoken about another day.
The interesting thing about this verse is that here the translators correctly translate “Iesous” from the Greek into Joshua, but this is the exact same word #2424 in the Strong’s concordance that in every other place in the New Testament is translated as “Jesus”. So why correctly translate “Iesous” here as Joshua, and not in the other places in the New Testament?
Again, there is absolutely No rule of grammar in any language to transliterate a name first into one language, and then into another. Also, there is NO letter “J” in the Hebrew language, so our Savoir could NOT have been named Jesus. Also, in Hebrew every word goes back to a 2 or 3 letter root word and has some meaning. “Yah- Shua” means Yahweh is Salvation, or the Salvation of Yahweh. Jesus or Iesous in Greek has no root or meaning. The Greek word for salvation is soter.
Also, since there is no letter “J” in Hebrew this would stand to reason that the name Jehovah is not the name of the Heavenly Father. In second Temple times, the Jews started to think that the name of Yahweh was too sacred to pronounce, so they took the vowels of ADONAI and placed them in the sacred name YHWH and came up with a false hybrid name Jehovah. Any good encyclopedia will tell you this and show you that grammatically speaking, it is impossible to come up with the name Jehovah. Also, “hovah” in Hebrew means ruin or destruction, our Father, Yahweh, is Elohim of love, not ruin and destruction
Does scripture clearly show us that our Savoir had a Hebrew and not Greek name?
Acts 26:14 And all of us falling to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me, and saying in the Hebrew dialect, Shaul, Shaul why do you persecute Me? It is hard for you to kick against the stakes.
Acts 26:15 And I said, Who are you, Sir? And He said, I am Yahshua whom you persecute;
COMMENT: It is most interesting to note that if the Savoir spoke to the Apostle Paul in the Hebrew dialect, then He most assuredly would have used His true Hebrew name Yahshua, and not “Jesus” as previously stated, there is no letter J in Hebrew.
Does it make any difference what name you refer to for our Savoir? How many names are there in scripture, which tell us that we may receive salvation?
Act 4:10 let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Yahshua, Messiah, the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom YAHWEH raised from the dead, in this name this one stands before you whole.
Acts 4:12 and there is salvation (Yahshua means Salvation) in no other man, for neither is there any other name under Heaven having been given among men by which we must be saved.
COMMENT: Scripture is very clear that there are not many names to call on for salvation, but one name that we may call on to be saved; Yahshua, or literally Yahweh’s salvation.
Was it prophesied that the name of the Heavenly Father would be revealed in the end time to His remnant flock?
Mal 3:16 Then those fearing YAHWEH spoke together, each man to his neighbor. And YAHWEH gave attention and heard. And a Book of Remembrance was written before Him for those who feared YAHWEH, and for those esteeming His name.
Isa 52:5 So then what is to Me here, declares YAHWEH? For My people are taken for nothing; those ruling howl, declares Yahweh. And My name is continually despised, every day.
Isa 52:6 So My people shall know My name thus in that day; for I am He speaking. Behold Me!
Jer 16:14 So, behold, the days come, says YAHWEH, that it shall no more be said, As YAHWEH lives who brought up the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
Jer 16:15 But rather, As YAHWEH lives who brought up the sons of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands, there where He had banished them to. And I will bring them again into their land that I gave to their fathers.
Jer 16:19 O YAHWEH, my strength and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the nations shall come to You from the ends of the earth and say, Our fathers have inherited only lies, vanity, and there is no profit in them.
Jer 16:20 Can a man make gods to himself? But they are not Elohim!
Jer 16:21 Therefore, behold, I will make them know this time; I will cause them to know My hand and My might; and they shall know that My name is YAHWEH.
Mal 1:11 For from the rising of the sun to its going down, My name shall be great among the nations, and everywhere incense shall be offered to My name; and a pure food offering; for My name shall be great among the nations, says YAHWEH of Hosts.
Deut 28:58 If you will not take heed to do all the Words of this Torah, written in this book, to fear this glorious and fearful Name, YAHWEH your Elohim,
Psa 150:6 Let everything that breathes praise Yah. HalleluYah!
1st Chron 16:28 Give to YAHWEH, O families of the people, give to YAHWEH glory and strength.
1st Chron 16:29 Give to YAHWEH the glory of His name; bring an offering and come before Him; worship YAHWEH in the adornment of holiness.
CONCLUSION: There is absolutely no doubt that the biblical name of our Heavenly Father is Yahweh and the name of His Son is Yahshua. We have barely scratched the surface of all the scriptures that speak about giving glory and honor and reverence to the personal name of Yahweh, the Father in Heaven and Creator of the universe. As a matter of fact, there are about 7,000 scriptures or more that either name His name personally or refer to it in holiness and reverence. Why not study more on your own?
Points to Remember:
1) The original Bible was written in the Hebrew language.
2) From the original Hebrew Scriptures, the personal name of our Creator, Yahweh, has been taken out almost 7,000 times and replaced with generic titles, and pagan replacements.
3) Names are transliterated NOT translated and stay the same in any language.
4) The name of the Messiah is Yahshua because He will save His people from sin.
5) God or gawd was the personal name of a Babylonian deity and is only used once in Scripture in Isaiah 65:11 naming the Babylonian deity.
6) Yahweh states in the Torah that we shall not pray to the personal name of any other deity but Him, Yahweh.
7) Even many Sabbath covenant believers still pray to a deity called gawd or god and not to Yahweh even though Scripture clearly states that this is His NAME (Exodus 3:15).
